Seward Harbor Opening Weekend has been a local tradition for years, with businesses and activities rolling out the red carpet for our visitors over the third weekend in May.

In 2007, the activities are bigger and better, with the first annual Seward Ocean Festival.  Combining the Harbor Opening Weekend tradition with a sea kayak extravaganza brings the water alive.  Family-oriented events around town, make sure there's something for the land-lubber in each of us, too!

The Ocean Festival is about celebrating life on the shores of Resurrection Bay!

We celebrate and thank our military members this weekend, and invite members of the Armed Services and their families to a free barbeque on Saturday, May 19th, in the small boat harbor.  Be sure to check out all the specials in town, too - its our way of saying "thank you".

Harbor activity abounds on Saturday and Sunday, when you can share in the blessing of the fleet, watch the boat parade and safety demonstrations, or hop aboard with an open house on the US Coast Guard Cutter Mustang and other vessels.  Other activities in and around the marina include business open houses and specials.  It is the beginning of the season, so don't forget to bring your boat with you and get that Coast Guard safety inspection done!

For 2007, we are proud to announce the first annual Seward Sea Kayaking Expo, May 17-21!  Featuring activities for beginning, intermediate, and advanced kayakers, this weekend experience is one for your "must-do" list.

For more information on the Expo, contact the program organizers at info@seaexpoalaska.com or check out their website at www.seaexpoalaska.com!
